The Feathered Messenger is the title of my short story and is a true-life tale about a quest to find my biological father. It wasn’t easy convincing my mom to allow me to share this poignant and amazing tale with the public, but I’m so glad that she did. The story was published in an anthology, Tall Tales and Short Stories from South Jersey, which is a collection of short stories and slice-of-life tales from members of the South Jersey Writers Group. I’m proud to be a part of this dynamic group that has writer’s retreats, monthly meetings with great speakers, informative workshops and write-ins.

Oghalon is the working title of the mystical fantasy novel for middle grade readers that I am currently working on. Although I’ve been writing and rewriting this story for quite awhile, this W.I.P. is nearly finished and will also have pencil illustrations.
The story takes place in my hometown of Laurel Springs. The main characters, Hayley and Arthur are twins who have an unusual connection to animals. Hayley is warned of impending danger by an otherworldy insect, but she is unable to prevent the tragedy from occurring. A sorceress from the world of Oghalon breaks into their home demanding payment from a contract signed before the twins were born. The sorceress takes Arthur and leaves Hayley injured, and alone with her mother who has been given a terrible curse.
Hayley enters the world of Oghalon unprepared for the obstacles she must face to save her family, or the truth of who she is as she uncovers secrets about herself and family. Hayley must find the courage to not only save her brother and mother from a terrible fate but also the fate of Oghalon.
